White will be a force with San Jose.

As the fantasy hockey season gets closer and closer to the end, some NHL teams start to fall out of the race and start playing their younger players, while other teams start to make rotational changes to prepare them for the playoffs. Each team operates differently, but as these lineup changes start to be made, it’s important to make sure that owners keep up to find out which players might be an attractive pickup from the fantasy hockey waiver wire. This week we highlight players from both the San Jose Sharks and Calgary Flames.

Ian White – D – San Jose Sharks

White is one beneficiary of the Sharks trying to increase their scoring attack. Top to bottom they are emphasizing offense on each line. He was acquired from Carolina where he scored 10 points in 39 games before being traded. He should play on the second line for the Sharks while playing on almost all power plays. White could be a big time addition for any lineup that needs a fantasy hockey defenseman.

Justin Braun – D – San Jose Sharks

Braun is another player gaining value from the Sharks’ new focus on offense. He had nine points in 15 games for the Sharks this season before being demoted, but the trades they have made have given him a second chance. He will likely be the Sharks other defensemen with the man advantage next to White. This should provide him with plenty of value in any fantasy hockey lineup.

Curtis Glencross – LW – Calgary Flames

Glencross is one of the main reasons that the Flames are back in the chase for the playoffs. He has slid onto the first line and is currently on a six game point streak. He also has 14 points in his last 12 games, which should make him a very hot pickup this week while he is streaking. Glencross should hold solid value the rest of the way and will be a solid wing player.

Anton Babchuk – D – Calgary Flames

Since being traded from the Hurricanes to the Flames this fall, Babchuk has been as solid as any defensemen in the league. He may be just the guy to fill out your roster as he has scored six points in the last five games. He also sports a solid amount of ice time for the Flames, which should keep his numbers consistent the rest of the season.
